The influence of lateral spinal curvature on range of motion

چکیده
Methods Height, body mass, spacing between hands, and length of the upper limbs were measured in all of the examinees. Lateral spinal curvature was identified using a bob (plummet) and clinical examination. Examinees performed five spinal flexibility tests: right and left lateral mobility test, forward bending test, shoulder static flexibility test, and neck and trunk static flexibility test. Results gathered using a bob (plummet) and clinical examination were compared to the results of flexibility tests. Difference between these methods in children with, and without, lateral spinal curvature was determined with statistical Ttest. Medcalc program was used for statistics. Statistical significance was affirmed at p=0.01 level.

Background :Falls have been strongly associated with decreased physical activity and impaired mobility. Reduced range of motion, as a consequence of muscle stiffness, has been indicated to assume a positive relationship to fall incidence. Also clinical observations suggest that maintaining the normal spinal curves is associated with the prevention of spinal, knee and hip disorders. Thus, the ...

Abstract Background & purpose: One of the most common skeletal deformities in children with intellectual disability is kyphosis. Kyphosis decreases the range of shoulder joint motion. This study aims to compare of the effect of eight-weeks corrective playing in land and water on the curvature kyphosis and shoulder joint range of motion in boys with intellectually disability. Materials and Met...
